With the awards season coming to close, I have decided — as I had the year before — to compile my reviews of the Academy Awards Best Picture contenders into one box set. This isn’t my chance to predict a winner, or say which I feel to be the best movie (Gravity). It is a collection of nine reviews for your reading pleasure, and they may help you decide your favourite.
I do want to point out, though, that a number of movies released in 2013 have been bumped. In my opinion, Inside Llewyn Davis should have been considered for Best Picture instead of Alexander Payne’s Nebraska, and films like Ron Howard’s Rush and Woody Allen’s Blue Jasmine should have rounded the number up to 11. Nevertheless, it’s been an impressive year in film.
Here are the reviews for the nine movies.
